Why New Zealand
Suz and I had discussed the idea of moving to New Zealand for a couple of years. During that time, Suz had taken a week each year staying with her twin sister on the south island. After Suz telling me about her time with Vonnie, Simon and Hannah, a difficult period at work and the kids spending 50 hours a week at school the decision was made.
We researched the local industries and which drove us to try purchasing the Lumsden Sawmill that was built around 1904. Unfortunately the old bloke who owned it put a high monetary value on sentiment and even more value on dodging tax and safety.
We were not deterred and found ourselves buying a 'renovators dream' which, like always, became a 'renovators nightmare'. It has however kept me very busy and given me a vast project.
A new country. A new home. New schools. New friends. And now, we are up to New Zealand year two...
